Summary:
Two-dimensional rheological models are introduced for orthotropic and isotropic viscoelastic bodies representing their rheological behavior by the mechanical interaction of the elastic and viscous zones. The simplest of these is the presented two-strip model, which behaves in one direction as a Kelvin solid and in the other as a Maxwell liquid. The paper contains the fundamental rheological relations for the plane-stress state of this model.
