The article summarizes the development of solutions of the problem of the impact of elastic bodies. It focuses on the approach of a Dutch mathematician, physicist and astronomer Christian Huygens, referring to his work On the Impact of Bodies, published in 1954. The approaches of René Descartes and a Czech physicist Jan Mark Marci are also mentioned. Finally, the problem is briefly analysed on secondary school level. (English) |
