In September 2016, variable fonts were added to the OpenType 1.8 specification, reintroducing the ideas of Knuth's METAFONT and Adobe's multiple master to mainstream font design. The article explains the relevant parts of the OpenType specification, and describes the implementation of variable fonts in ConTeXt. (English) |
